The Painkiller and the Bushwacker are two notable cocktails poured all across the British Virgin Islands. Here are recipes for both from local establishments.

The Bushwacker (from Cow Wreck Beach, Anegada)

1 part Amaretto
1 part Bailey’s Irish Cream
1 part Kahlua
1 part premium vodka
1 part white rum
1/2 part Coco Lopez (Cream of Coconut)
ice
Fresh grated nutmeg
(some places add a squirt of chocolate syrup)

Fill blender 1/2 to 3/4 full of ice. Add liquids and blend until smooth. Pour into glass and grate fresh nutmeg on top. The consistency should be like a milkshake.

Painkiller (from Soggy Dollar)

2-4 oz. of Pusser’s Rum
4 oz. pineapple juice
1 oz. cream of coconut
1 oz. orange juice
Grated fresh nutmeg
In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, add first four ingredients and shake. Pour into cocktail glasses over ice and top with grated nutmeg.
